Summer Concert Series
Ferndale Library Kicks-Off Popular Summer Concert Series on June 26 with Isis Damil
Free, all-ages concerts sponsored by the Friends of the Ferndale Library
The Ferndale Library’s annual Summer Concert Series returns on June 26 with the first of three performances, brought to you by the Friends of the Ferndale Library. Detroit-based jazz/soul singer/songwriter Isis Damil will perform in the library’s courtyard at 6:30 pm on WEDNESDAY, June 26. These free, all-ages concerts are a great way for music fans to enjoy a nice summer evening and encounter some of Michigan’s top-notch talents with songs that span a variety of genres and styles. No registration is required, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs/blankets.
Wed., June 26 - 6:30 pm: Isis Damil:
A high-energy and engaging blend of jazz, soul, and R&B, Isis Damil is an accomplished singer who’s performed on the stages of dozens of high-profile venues and festivals across the state. Damil recently won the WDIV Go For It singing competition, and you may have seen her perform live during last year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade downtown.
Wed., July 24 - 6:30 pm: The High Strung:
If there's ever loud music in any public library across the U.S.A., then we probably have The High Strung to thank for that! Nearly every performance by these Michigan masters of literate pop-rock turns into a bit of a dance party, so swing on by! You'll probably hear their hit song "The Luck You Got" (famously featured as the theme song to Shameless, along with a lot of witty between-song banter!
Thur., August 22 - 6:30 pm: Frontier Ruckus:
Fresh off the release of their seventh studio album, On The Northline, the acclaimed indie-folk / Americana-rock trio Frontier Ruckus will perform live in the Ferndale Library courtyard in August to cap off our series. Poetic and utterly evocative lyrics soar over the dulcet splendor of an elegant banjo and the more esoteric enrichment of a melodica, trumpet, and singing saw! This band always puts on a memorable show, so don’t miss it!
The Friends of the Ferndale Library make the Ferndale Library Summer Concert Series possible. Events are planned to be hosted outdoors; moving indoors in case of inclement weather.
